About the role

West Africa Vocational Education is looking for a strategic, people-focused Alumni Strategy Lead to build a stronger, more active alumni community.

This is a senior, hybrid role based in Yaba, Lagos. The person will own the alumni engagement strategy across communications, events, career support, mentorship, professional development opportunities and ongoing alumni relationship management.

They will work closely with the programmes team, communications team and other internal stakeholders to keep alumni connected, visible, supported and actively contributing to the wider alumni community.

The role suits someone who can combine strategy with hands-on execution: designing engagement plans, running programmes and events, creating clear communications, using CRM and engagement data to understand what is working, and improving alumni support over time.

Key responsibilities include developing and implementing alumni engagement plans, building strong relationships with alumni, planning events and workshops, providing career support, creating communications plans, tracking alumni engagement, reporting on what is working, and identifying new ways for alumni to stay connected and contribute.

What you will bring

B.Sc. in Mass Communication, Public Relations, Communications or a related field
At least 5 years’ relevant experience in alumni engagement, community engagement, communications, event planning, relationship management or a similar role
Experience developing and implementing engagement strategies
Strong written and verbal communication experience, including creating content for different communication channels
Comfortable using Google Workspace, CRM systems, databases or engagement data for reporting and decision-making

Helpful, not essential

Experience in an NGO, education or youth-focused organisation
Experience planning alumni, community, networking or professional development events
Dashboard management, data analysis and reporting experience
Facilitation or presentation experience
Experience supporting youth career growth, mentorship or employability programmes
